Buying an investment property in Portugal through MESPIL

We spoke to him to get a first-hand account of buying an apartment in Portugal through MESPIL and what he and his wife have found Pine Hills and the MESPIL investment experience.

How did you find the process of buying Portuguese property through MESPIL?

Colin: They were very efficient in all of the administrative processes and made the whole procedure very seamless. Buying property in Portugal wasn’t a snap decision for us, we had previously travelled and holidayed in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Turkey, in addition to Portugal, but only the Algarve, and in particular Pine Hills, met our needs in so many ways.

What initially attracted you to buying a property in Portugal?

Colin: We had been looking for a southern country and we were familiar with the Algarve from golf holidays, we were looking for an investment property and Pine Hills was a clear favourite.

What advice would you give to anyone considering relocating to or buying property in Vilamoura?

Colin: I’d advise renting first before buying a property in Portugal, we were able to see first hand what the quality of life was like, and more specifically to Pine Hills, we saw how well the complex was managed. We then realised that this level of management and service was what we wanted for ourselves when buying property in the Algarve.

How do you find living in Pine Hills? Can you give us a description of the things you enjoy?

Colin: The Algarve apartments in Pine Hills are of a very high standard but aside from this, the development met our needs in a number of specific ways. We wanted to be near the sea but not too close to the actual coast or the marina, Pine Hills caters for this perfectly as we can see the ocean from our T3 penthouse but we are 2km from the marina.

We wanted a gated community, and Pine Hills Vilamoura is not only gated but set on delightful gardens and is manned by 24-hour security. Also important to us was an apartment without stairs or steps and we were delighted to find that our T3 penthouse apartment had a private lift which brought us from the private car parking space directly to the penthouse.

What do you think makes Pine HIlls different from its competitors, is there anything specific that comes to mind?

Colin: Pine Hills impressed us enough to warrant us purchasing a second unit in the development and we believe we’re not the only people who did this. I would say that the things that set it apart would all fall under the umbrella of service. The staff are extremely friendly, any maintenance is carried out as required and cleaning is carried out as requested, not just adhering to a timetable. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are highly efficient and very accessible.
The on-site gymnasium is also a very special extra and the pool and bar are also worthy of note for their quality and ambience.
